Primed for action!

C-TEC’s innovative Quantec addressable call system has been installed at Blackpool’s first-ever Primary Care Centre (PCT).

Located on Whitegate Drive, the exciting new development was built by Eric Wright Group and aims to be a one-stop health shop for the growing population of Blackpool. Providing state-of-the-art healthcare facilities including clinical care, screening and GP surgeries in a modern and spacious environment, the new PCT will ensure patients are diagnosed and treated quickly.

Bowker Ltd commissioned Lancashire-based BAFE SP203 accredited company Solid State to install the Quantec system. As one of the UK’s leading specialist installers of nurse call and disability equipment, Solid State was ideally qualified for the job. Quantec is now at the heart of communications at the prestigious new 3-storey development. Says Nigel Thomas of Solid State: “With its capacity to act as a patient/staff emergency call system, a panic attack system for staff and a general call system, Quantec is incredibly powerful. The system provides different types of calls to required locations with emergency calls reaching out via radio pagers. All calls are recorded using the highly effective Surveyor data management system. With a total of three network controllers and over 500 individual pieces of equipment, this system will ensure smooth and effective communication throughout the building”.

Also installed by Solid State at the Centre is a wealth of C-TEC’s UK manufactured disability equipment, including a SigTEL Compact disabled refuge system, a total of thirteen PDA102C counter induction loop systems, one for each reception desk and a site-wide public address system.

As the original site of the old Blackpool Hospital where the first-ever patient was admitted on 25 August 1894, Whitegate Drive has historically always been used for delivering healthcare to the local community. However, the luxurious and spacious new Centre is a million miles away from the old style of hospital and promises to provide fabulous high-technology facilities all under the same roof. Blackpool’s PCT employs around 750 staff and is responsible for the provision of health services for more than 150,000 patients registered with a GP.
